It's spring and the world is mud luscious. .... And it is about time for me to update my blog. Long past time actually
I moved a few weeks ago. So prior to moving I mostly packed and or slept or maybe I packed in my sleep. And then there was and, of course, is the unpacking.
Somewhere in that time I also painted, and I will post these paintings here. And in my next post I will discuss the changes I am going to make to my blog.
In October I am doing a show with Karen Walker It will be on cities and towns. I seem to have more cities and ocean scenes so far.
The painting below is watercolor of arches, bridges, and tunnel lines. Tentatively its title is Bridge and Tunnel, but this will probably be changed. It is 15x22 in watercolor on Arches board. It will be for sale in October.
Figuring out the values in painting has been an ongoing problem for me. Until now, everything I did was always dark, too dark. So I almost feel that I don't want to mess with things.
If there is a connection in writing to value, it is connecting your points, with that of other researchers. As a writer, I always thought the reader would figure it out. But as a writer and writing teacher, I know that this is not true, especially not in English writing.
One advantage to watercolor painting on Yupo (plastic) is that you can always make changes. One disadvantage is that the NC Watercolor Society doesn't let you enter paintings done on Yupo. So, I continue to work on paintings such as the first which is on watercolor board.
More about that and growing up in my next post. I hope to be doing them more regularly now.
